In May 2003, SBC International Cinemas, the developer and operator of state-of-the-art cinemas, announced its acquisition of the Warner Village Cinema chain in the UK. The purchase of 36 Warner Village sites nationwide expanded its number of multiplex cinemas from 6 to 42 overall with a total of 384 UK screens.
To help fund this deal, LGV joined as equal partners with Clarity Partners and Boston Ventures, which founded SBC International Cinemas. The deal involved the creation of a new company called Vue Cinemas, with the new Vue cinema circuit immediately becoming the second largest in the UK in terms of box office and the largest multiplex operator in the UK.
In June 2006, Vue announced a management buy out in partnership with Bank of Scotland Corporate through its Integrated Finance team, allowing LGV, Clarity Partners and Boston Ventures to successfully exit the business.
