Verna Group is the UK market leader in the provision of pulp and infection control products to the acute sector. In April 2005, LGV acquired the Verna Group, at a cost of approximately £60 million.
Verna’s core business, Vernacare, manufactures and distributes disposable bed pans and holds a significant market share of this product in the UK.
Over the period of LGV's ownership, LGV strengthened the executive management team with the recruitment of a new Finance Director, Chris Attrill and a new Group Operations Director, Derek McIntyre. LGV also restructured operational management, with senior hires throughout the business and the team was also supported by a non-executive Chairman, Paul Murray, who was appointed at completion.
Under LGV’s ownership, the Group undertook a refinancing in June 2007 and in February 2008, LGV successfully sold Verna to Bank of Scotland Integrated Finance for an undisclosed amount.
