In 2006, LGV acquired a significant shareholding in Integrated Dental Holdings ("IDH"), the UK’s largest owner of dental practices. Headquartered in Bolton, IDH is the largest privately owned company operating NHS dental practices in the UK with more than 190 practices, 750 dentists and around 1.5 million patients.
LGV backed the current management team of Andy Morris, Jo Weir and Darrin Robinson led by David Hudaly as Chief Executive. Gavin Casey, the former Chief Executive of the London Stock Exchange plc, joined the Board as the Chairman.
During the time of ownership LGV strengthened the management team with the appointment of a COO and the opening of 48 new dental practices, which housed 140 additional NHS dentists and treated 300,000 new NHS patients. In July 2007, the Group acquired Orthoworld, a group of 23 specialised practices.
In February 2008, Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity ("MLGPE"), the private equity arm of Merrill Lynch & Co., acquired IDH for an undisclosed amount.
